WIFE MADE HUSBAND CHOOSE BETWEEN HERSELF OR HIS SON, WHEN HIS SON STARTED TO HARRAS HER

A woman shared her story on Reddit’s r/AITA subreddit. She explained that her stepson started to harras her more and more with every passing day, and when she felt that she had enough, she gave her husband an ultimatum, she wanted from him to choose between herself and his son.
OP explained that her husband had a 19-year-old son, Avery, and an ex-wife, Dianna. And she stated that her stepson, Avery, was always hostile towards her. He was accusing OP that she was the reason of his parent’s separation.
OP stated, “I have tried my best to spend time with Avery, and I’ve been respectful of all the boundaries he set with me. Avery still hates me.”
After Avery learned that OP was going to marry his father, his harrasment had reached to a point, where he publicly humiliated her on their engagement day, and told to the guests that OP was a horrible person, who hated him for being her boyfriend’s son. But his father took him to his mother’s house, after he tried to destroy their night.
As Avery’s terrible actions towards OP continued, he took her cat, left it to a shelter, and caused her cat to be put down. Then, he destroyed her wedding dress too.
As OP had lived through a lot because of her stepson, she had enough, after Avery wanted to have dinner with them, and when he got the chance, he tried to attack OP, as he screamed at her and tried to physically hurt her.
After that incident, OP made it clear for her husband that he needs to choose between his wife, and son. OP stated, “I told him that he had to make a choice between me and Avery, because I wasn’t putting up with Avery’s harrasment any longer, and if it was a requirement of being married to Dave, I’d be filing for divorce. Dave told me it wasn’t fair to make him make this decision, and I told him it might not have been fair, but it wasn’t fair of him to let his son harass and attack me for years.”
The Redditors who read the story stated that she needs to save herself from that terrible son, and if it means that she needs to end her marriage, she should for her own safety.
After she had the talk with her husband, Avery had stabber OP, when her husband let him hurt OP. After she was rushed to the hospital, the officers told her that there are not enough evidence to arrest Avery. So she didn’t went back to her house, and started to stay with her sister.
OP shared, “I filed for divorce, and I’m working on getting a restraining order. I’m also going to work on getting myself into therapy once the world isn’t going bats**t, though that might take a while. I definitely need it.”
Then she gave an update three months later, as OP revealed that she finally divorced from Avery’s father, and got a restraining order for Avery. And she explained that Avery got caught with a gun.
Her ex-husband, Dave was dating with someone, and as she learned from her Facebook account, Avery threatened to kill her, and that was how he got arrested with the gun.
On her latest update about the issue, OP revealed that Avery took his own life. As he was in a party, and there were drugs and alcohol involved, he found a gun and took his own life.
OP stated, “I’m not sure I totally believe that, but I don’t want to think about it too much. It’s definitely plausible. Avery spiraled pretty badly after I ran.”
And continued, “I feel somewhat sorry for Dave, but I mostly feel sorry for Dianna. Their kid was an awful human being, but they didn’t deserve to go through the pain of losing him. No matter how I felt about him and the awful things he did to me, I couldn’t bring myself to feel happy that he died.”
