MATTHEW PERRY HAD TALKED ABOUT HIS FRIENDS CAST, AND THANKED JENNIFER ANNISTON
54-year-old, member of the iconic TV show, Friends, Matthew Perry found dead at his home in Los Angeles.
He was also known with his addiction towards alcohol, and had talked about it recently, when he had lost control while they were shooting the legendary TV show, Friends.
Also, he had talked about his addiction, in his book, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.
When he was 24, as he stated, his alcohol addiction had started, as he had casted for Friends.
“I could handle it, kind of. But by the time I was 34, I was really entrenched in a lot of trouble,” he said.
“But there were years that I was sober during that time. Season 9 was the year that I was sober the whole way through. And guess which season I got nominated for best actor? I was like, ‘That should tell me something.’”
Back in 2018, he had a terrible experience with gastrointestinal perforation, as he was close to death. He was in a coma for two weeks, and spent five months in hospital, as he carried a colostomy bag, for a time period that close to a year.
“The doctors told my family that I had a two per cent chance to live,” he said.
“I was put on a thing called an ECMO machine, which does all the breathing for your heart and your lungs. And that’s called a Hail Mary. No one survives that.”
He also stated that his co-stars from the Friends were supportive, as he said, they, “were understanding, and they were patient.”
“It’s like penguins. Penguins, in nature, when one is sick, or when one is very injured, the other penguins surround it and prop it up. They walk around it until that penguin can walk on its own. That’s kind of what the cast did for me,”
In 2022, he talked about Jennifer Anniston that she had supported him a lot, as he said, “She was the one that reached out the most,”
“You know, I’m really grateful to her for that.”
“Jennifer, she says, ‘We know you’re drinking,’”
“Yeah, imagine how scary a moment that was,”
A source close to Matthew Perry had stated after his death, “I spoke to the woman he played with this morning and every morning. She is in shock, adored Matt…she said he had been fatigued today and over the past week. A little more than usual. He played for one hour, then went home.”
