MARRIED FOR 62 YEARS! STORY OF MARTIN SHEEN AND HIS WIFE, JANET TEMPLETON

Martin Sheen and Janet Templeton celebrated their 62nd wdding anniversary this year. The couple are married since 1961.
They met in 1960, and on the 23rd of December, 2022, they had celebrated their 62nd anniversary.
“I was fortunate enough and smart enough to fall for her,” Sheen stated.
He revealed that he made some mistakes, but at the end, he understand what Templeton meant for him. “It took me about 20 years to realize that I was leading a dishonest life and that she was my idol. She was free, and I thought, ‘I want to be like that.’ It was like, ‘Wow, I want to come up to her level now,’ and that made all the difference.”
“She’s the best human being I’ve ever known in my life, and I’m continually inspired by her.”

As he was a TV legend, his wife, Templeton had worked on some projects too. She starred in “Kennedy” series in 1983, and years later, she starred in “Beverly Hills Brats,” and worked as the executive producer on “The Way.”
She once saved her husband’s life too, while Sheen was working on the legendary movie, “Apocalypse Now,” by Francis Coppola.
Sheen wanted another journey for his character, but Coppola had different plans for his character. They had argued a lot during the shootings.
“He would tell Martin, ‘You’re evil. I want all the evil, the violence, the hatred in you to come out.’ Francis did a dangerous and terrible thing.” Said a crew member of the set.
“He put Martin in a place and didn’t bring him back,” the source added.
Coppola was mean against Sheen, as he forced him to drink a lot to get in his character.

One day, during the filming, Sheen had experienced a heart attack, as they said, “crawled to the side of the road.”
He was rushed to a hospital, and during his examination, Sheen wanted to meet with a priest, for “last rites.”
As he went into a cardiac arrest, he only wanted to see his wife.
“I completely fell apart. My spirit was exposed. I cried, and I cried. I turned completely gray – my eyes, my beard – all gray. I was in intensive care. Janet slept on the floor beside me.”
As they were rushing him to an operation room, his wife said, “It’s only a movie, baby. Please, it’s only a movie!”

On 2016, the couple had celebrated their 55th anniversary. Sheen stated that they never wanted a big celebration for their special date.
“Every day is a celebration with this dame.” Sheen said.
The couple celebrated their 60th anniversary with their son, Emilio, and his girlfriend Jacquie. They had arranged a private restaurant, at their home by the fireplace.
Their son and his wife had acted as if they were the chefs and servers, while the parents enjoyed their night.
