MAN WITH WEALTH, FALLEN IN LOVE WITH A HOMELESS GIRL, AND SEARCHED HER IN EVERYWHERE
As the homelessness was rising, Rodger Landers was getting annoyed by it, as he was seeing more and more people on the streets, as he was going to his office.
As he saw a homeless woman, who was getting donated a penny, and smiling towards her donator, he got struck with her smile.
As he went into his office, the only thing he was thinking of was her smile. He had searched the streets of Los Angeles, as he wanted to see her smile once more.
As he found her, he had watched her smile for an entire week, as he had gave her a coin, whenever he sees her.
And one Friday afternoon, he had decided to go and talk with the girl. “Hi,” said Rodger to the woman.
“Would it be okay if I bought you a cup of coffee? You look really cold.”
“Thank you,” said the woman, as she smiled towards Rodger, which pierced through his heart. “I’d like that.” She added.
As they had entered to a coffee shop nearby, Rodger had ordered some hot food for her, and coffee for both of them. He was surprised, when the girl had properly eated her meal, and drank her coffee, Rodger thought that she doesn’t belong to the streets.
“How did this happen to you? Living on the streets?” Rodger asked.
“I was stupid, and trusting,” she said as she smiled.
“It’s not an original story. I was in love with this boy in my hometown — Idaho — if you can believe it.”
“My parents disapproved of him, which only made him even more romantic and attractive to me… To cut a long story short, he convinced me to withdraw my college funds and run away with him to L.A. He was going to be a movie star, and I’d be a screenwriter…”
“A lot of people come out here every year, less than a handful make it!” Rodger said.
“Well, I’ll never know.” Answered the girl.
“The first night in L.A., we booked into a motel. When I woke up in the morning Kevin was gone, so was my money and everything I had.”
“Did you go to the police? Call your family?” Asked Rodger. She shaked her head as she said no, and cried a little.
“I was too ashamed. I made a deal with the motel manager. She let me sleep in the storeroom and I cleaned the rooms. Some of the guests gave me tips, and I managed to eat. But then her husband started trying…”
“You know how it is. I left the motel and ended up here, on the streets.”
“What’s your name?” Asked Rodger.
“Emma,” she said, as she smiled through Rodger’s heart again. “Emma Sinclair from Preston, Idaho!”
“Well, Emma Sinclair from Preston, Idaho, I’m Roger Landers from Los Angeles, California, and I’m sending you home.” Rodger responded.
Then he took Emma to a mall, where she had bought herself a few dresses and a suitcase for her belongings.
“Listen,” he said, as he gave her a $100 bill.
“Don’t let any more charming rascals talk you into coming to L.A., OK?”
“Thank you, thank you, and God bless you!” Said Emma, as she had hugged to Rodger.
As she hopped into the bus, and left, Rodger had a terrible pain at his heart and sould. What was happening to him, he thought to himself.
“If I let her go, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life!” he told himself. She’s special, and I love her.” Rodger had said to himself at night.
After two days, he was on the road to Preston, Idaho. He stopped ata a police station and asked that how he can find Emma Sinclair. An officer had said, “Emma?”
“What do you want with Emma?”
“Well, you see, I met her in LA, and I wanted to see if she was alright…” The officer had cut him, as he said,
“You can find Emma at her mom’s laundromat, two doors down. I’m coming with you. I don’t want any more trouble for Emma!”
Rodger got excited and nervous as he started to walk towards the laundromat.
When he saw her again, he was sure, they belonged together.
Three weeks later, Emma returned to Los Angeles, where a man that was loving her waiting. They had married towards to the end of the year. Emma had created a program to help homeless people to find their arrival points.
