IF MERYL STREEP’S BOYFRIEND WOULDN’T LOSE HIS LIFE, SHE MIGHT WOULDN’T BE MARRIED WITH, DON GUMMER
As the news of the separation of Meryl Streep and Don Gummer fell down into the magazine world, the new theories are rising.
Spokeperson of Streep had stated their separation, and confrimed that they were living separated from each others for a few years now.
“Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years.” Were stated by the spokeperson, as they added that they had, “chosen lives apart”, and will care for one another for the years remains.
As it is resurfaced that Streep once had stated for Gummer, “I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives, you’ve given me.”, her old statements about her former boyfriend, John Cazale resurfaced too.
“He was large-hearted, very eccentric, and I loved him.” She had stated about him.
In their relationship, Cazale was diagnosed with bone cancer, while they were shooting, The Deer Hunter, and as the director of the movie, Michael Cimino had stated, “Meryl stayed by his side every single moment.”
Also Michael Schulman, the author of her autobiography, Her Again: Becoming Meryl Streep, he had stated that when she was visited by her friends after loosing Cazale, they had witnessed that the situation Streep was in.
“She gave him tremendous hope,” he stated. And as he passed away, Streep couldn’t believe and she had punched him on the chest, as she screamed. On that moment, Cazale opened his eyes and told her that it was okay, and died.
“I tried.” Streep said to her brother, and took a few months of break from her career, to recover from loosing her love, in 1978.
“The death is still very much with me. It has forced me to confront my own mortality, and once you do that, you look at things differently.” She said in an interview that took place in 1979.
After losing Cazale, she had left the apartment they lived together in. As the apartment was owned by Don. She met with him, as he was a friend of her brother.
They had started their relationship few months later she lost Cazale, and married in 1978. They had their children Henry Wolfe, Mamie Gummer, Grace Gummer, and Louisa Jacobson together.
